Jerry Cutshall Heart Attack...

We are sorry to report that Jerry Cutshall had an apparent heart attack while driving home this last Saturday and went off the road. There was a paramedic behind him who revived him and quickly got him to the hospital. Unfortunately Jerry passed away last Tuesday and was buried on Friday, July 3rd.

For those of you who don't know Jerry, he was AYC commodore in 1978 and is well known by our long-time members. Please join us in wishing Jerry's family our heartfelt condolences in this difficult time.

Powerboater looking for fun?

Do you fit that description?

Do you know someone who does?

Whidbey Island Race Week is looking for a finish boat. This is the boating party of the summer, and is coming soon. July 13-17 in Oak Harbor. You don't need to have any experience, they'll do all the work. Your boat will be the finish line boat, in place for the races to record finishes. You will be treated to all the good stuff... food, bracelets for the tent, entertainment, great sailing... This would be a great time if you or someone you know is available.

Call Andy at NW Rigging or 770-7035, the sooner the better! Thanks!

AYC rules the waves

Nightrunner skippered by Doug Fryer won div 2 at Van Isle 360; Icon skippered by Kevin Welch was 2nd div 1 and 2nd on total elapsed time behind DragonFly; Celebration was 2nd to the boats that tied for 1st @ J-fest.

Closer to home Colin E proved it is his crew that is holding him back by winning the singlehanded race, Ed K was second. Barking Mad also dominated the GOTB regatta, eeking out a victory over the wild women of Syn di cat!

One hand at a time

Actually you can use both. Sunday the 21st at the AYC @ 1000hrs we will have a skippers meeting and decide a course for the singlehanded regatta. Of course you can use both hands...Possibilities include round Guemes, circumnavigating the fixed marks in the bay, round Huckleberry, round Jack, your call; if we can't agree we'll flip a coin!

Windermere in one week!

Windermere Regatta is coming soon... just about a week to go! We have 15 boats already registered, and are counting on many more to show up on Friday. The Moores are returning for a one design start, with 5 or 6 planning to attend. Please come out and race, or just party with us at the club, and show our guests the wonderful hospitality that we're famous for!

Tuesday night we'll be decorating the club, if you're interested in helping out we'll start at 7:00 (ish). A huge thank you to all the volunteers that have already been working hard to make it a success, and all of the volunteers who offered to help out during the regatta. It's going to be a great one!
