Surprise, Surprise...

We love it when a plan comes together, however this time it was a surprise.

As many of you know Raymarine has been on the ropes for the last couple of years, like a number of others in the marine electronics business.  There have been numerous on and off again transactions in the works (some very public, most private), none of which amounted to much....

More recently Garmin made a very public bid for the company, but in the end - guess who was the winning bidder???

FLIR

Yes, you read that right - FLIR.  A very capable company & strong company that is serious about entering the commercial and recreational marine industries.  While they "officially" have no plans to move or substantially change Raymarine operations, you can bet your bottom dollar that a significant reorganization is in the works, plus you will likely see FLIR's excellent thermal imaging products fully integrated into Raymarine's product line...

Another day, another surprise -- isn't life interesting!

Now what will Furuno do with both NobelTec and MaxSea - stay tuned for this emerging soap opera...
