Tulip Time

AYC got off the first regatta of the year in fine style. Boats from Orcas, Oak Harbor, Olympia, and Lopez Island were in attendance. The lovely Pacific Drifter with Captain Sean aboard served as race HQ on the water and our chase boat Race Knight was kept busy setting and resetting marks mostly hauled by Marshall Brown.
Quite a few young faces in the crowd especially aboard Hitched and Teddy Bear.
Saturday featured 2 races before the wind shut down and Sunday we just barely squeezed in four more. Fine starts and proper strategery were the order of the day as the scoring was so tight in PHRF 2 only 2 points separated 1st from 3rd. Results are posted, sorta interesting if you look at them in detail. The Martin 242/SC27 div had 3 different winners in only 7 boats.
The new kid on the block Freja as well as Errant Belle were both on two wheels for a time as puffs rolled through. Dave  Wagner captured a ton of action on his tricky bow camera giving the drone the day off.
The food was fantastic salmon and oysters one night and chili dogs and salad the next. The lovely Deanna and crew kept the crowd well watered from behind the bar and John sanford was Johnny-on -the-spot attending to every detail.
The annual auction for the Jennifer Bowman print generated 1200.00 American dollars for youth sailing thanks to Beth Bell and Chris White.
Old friendships were renewed and new acquaintances were made. The usual should've and could'ves were shared everyone seemed pleased.
Thanks to all that made this possible, we could not have done it without you!
